CodaClass is an AI assistant for early childhood programs. Teachers carry teaching, documentation, planning, family updates, and compliance all at once. CodaClass takes on everything but the teaching.
Teachers speak or type what they see once, and CodaClass tags it to your standards, including ELOF goals. From there it becomes family updates, individualized lesson plans, and review-ready evidence. Because CodaClass builds a complete picture over time, you can ask it anything and get answers grounded in the reality of your classroom.

Who we are
CodaClass is made by Codachord in collaboration with teachers, families, and early learning experts. Our team brings QRIS development experience, past CLASS and ERS certification, and real insights from hundreds of classroom observations and hundreds of interviews with teachers, program directors, and families. We’re committed to reducing administrative burden and simplifying compliance—without dictating how you teach.

Report benchmarks
The rating legend and summaries by domain and by level appear above the table. For a whole class report, each step shows a horizontal bar of level counts across the class. For one child, the table matches the Skills page. If you used domain or standard filters, matching learning areas and steps are highlighted when possible.

Download the example CSV, fill in your students, upload to preview, then approve. Uses the same column headers as Reports CSV export (identity, developmental, and health). File import only — not live SIS sync.
New names become students in your class. Names that already exist update those students (empty cells don’t clear fields).

Observation save mode
Quick save sends notes to pending for review on the Observations screen. Review and save shows a preview so tags and standards can be confirmed or changed before saving.
Classroom materials
When enabled, Assistant recommendations and plans use only materials marked as in your classroom. When disabled, all appropriate items can appear. Inventory is managed on the Inventory screen.
How to use
CodaClass gives directors a center-wide view of documentation, coverage, ratios, and attendance — and flags what’s missing before a quality review or IEP meeting. Everything ties back to the same evidence teachers create in class, so oversight and compliance come from real classroom work rather than extra paperwork.
Start here
- Open Dashboard to review all rooms, status badges, observation progress, domain coverage, ratios, and attendance.
- Use the room chips on Dashboard to compare one room, a few rooms, or the whole center. The charts and room cards update to match your selection.
- Change the targets for observations per child, domains, ratio, or lookback window to see how the dashboard responds.
- Spot gaps before a review — use the summary tiles and coverage charts to see which rooms are behind on documentation or over ratio.
- Use Pre-K Room A for drill-downs in Assistant, Students, Observations, Daily log, Progress, and Reports — that is where the real demo records are loaded (including Viola, Melody, Aria, and classmates). Use its Open Progress and Open Reports buttons for the same child-level data a teacher sees.
- Pre-K Room B is a sample aggregate room for Dashboard only — it shows needs-attention signals (docs, domains, family updates) so director comparison questions have a clear contrast with Room A.
- Ask the Assistant which rooms are falling behind on observation documentation, which rooms have a narrow mix of developmental domains, or which rooms still need more family updates.
- Ask the Assistant about licensing — Demo: answers use Illinois (IDEC/DCFS) rules only.
This demo has sample data for a Pre-K classroom (Viola, Melody, and their classmates).
A day with Viola
Viola is a 4-year-old with a severe peanut allergy on file. Follow her through a normal day to see what CodaClass does for every child.

1. Capture an observation by voice
Open the Assistant, choose Observation, tap the mic, and just say what you saw. CodaClass writes it up and automatically tags the developmental domain, the setting, and the matching learning standards — even in a loud classroom.

2. Grounded in your theory and teaching lenses
CodaClass uses your developmental theory and teaching lenses with your student data and observations when it answers questions and helps you plan.

3. Log the day
Record attendance, meals, and nap for the whole class in the Daily log. This same log feeds directly into family updates, so a note home reflects the whole day.

4. Send families an update
Open Viola’s observations, choose a date range, and click Write family update. CodaClass drafts a specific note from her observations and the day’s log (snack, nap, and notes). Edit it, translate if needed, and send. That’s the note you send home — different from Messages, where a family writes you.

5. Reply when a family writes you
Open the unread badge on Messages. Viola’s dad sent a note about the book you read. Reply in the thread.

6. Plan an activity with built-in evidence
Turn on Plan lesson, select Viola and anyone else you want to individualize for, and describe what you want. Plans keep her allergy in mind and use what’s in your Inventory. Already have a plan? Upload it and CodaClass checks it against each child’s needs and the standards it hits.

7. Ask the Assistant anything — it knows your students
Chat with your classroom data for answers that cite the observations behind them. A substitute can get up to speed quickly and easily. Day to day, it’s a knowledgeable and helpful classroom assistant.

8. Check progress
Open Progress to see benchmark ratings, recent growth, and any gaps. View the whole class at a glance, or filter down to just Viola.

9. Create a report
Turn observations and records into a conference-ready, exportable report. It’s formatted to hold up in a quality review, and ready for you to edit.
From paperwork to daily support: Aria’s IEP
Everything above works for every child. When a child has an IEP, CodaClass connects those goals to what happens in the classroom, so support stays intentional, and documentation follows from real teaching. Aria’s IEP covers speech-language and social-emotional goals.

Open Aria’s profile and go to IEP progress for her goals and monitoring. To update progress, use Record trials there: confirm the goal, tap Correct or Incorrect for each trial, then Save & end session.

On Aria’s IEP progress section, under IEP progress gaps, you’ll see progress vs mastery and a short list of deadlines and goals that need data.

3. Draft a progress report or amendment
On Aria’s IEP progress section, draft a parent-friendly progress report or an IEP-meeting packet from your notes, observations, and data. Need a mid-year change? You can also draft a meeting-ready amendment.

4. See what’s missing before a review
In Students, CodaClass flags who still needs notes linked to goals or has upcoming IEP deadlines, so gaps don’t slip through before a meeting or review.
